Report. The first trails at Buttermere 2019 and the old adage , ” If you can see the hounds for most of the trail then the hounds can equally see as much. ” this leads to , if you are behind and you want to catch up then the quickest way from A to B is “no  corners “. It is an excellent trail marred by the odd incident and you can’t blame a hound for not going on the scenic route , the onus is on the owner , run somewhere else and if you have trouble identifying the hounds then you can borrow caroline’s bins, the names are on the lens

Rant over and in the seniors Crazy had only the watch for opposition and won by 23 seconds. Further behind was Babylon and Huntsman’s Novice, two of last seasons pups and having their first outing  on the senior trail.

The juniors and confirming form shown in the winter trials at Buttermere was Huntsmans who beat Muse and Dash, a field of 18 consisting of 13 non- winners. What won the maidens , “Mine did “! ” No it wasn’t yours it was mine”No it was both of them, last  seasons Champion non – winner, Copperfield  and   Mine , a dead -heat.

The restricted trail(s) and if Arizona could speak his statement would have been  ” There was never more than six hounds in front of me at any one time, but I finished twelfth.
