Report. One of the most unluckiest of hounds must be Jenny’s Aura ,winner twice this week but beaten by the clock at both Marton and last night at Newlands. A tricky start put paid to most of the field and a large scale also at the start added time to what is already a long trail.

The drama wasn’t confined to the pups in the seniors Langdale Ranger came low onto the finish gaining a considerable advantage and was subsequently disqualified for cutting, the race being awarded to the 33/1 outsider Marlou, owned jointly by Eric and Christine .

And if that was not enough in the senior maidens Persian Prince looked to be a certainty coming down the fell towards the finish only to run behind the fell wall gifting the trail to Meadow Josie who is running into form for Saturday’s International.

The Open Restricted and a win for Jenny’s Rose, also surrounded by a shade of controversary, the view taken by the Committee was that where as the senior winner dropped in low and kept low , the last winner although coming in low righted herself and climbed back to the trail.
