Report. Credit where credit is due and the Cockermouth team under the guidance of Phil and Neil deserve it, on time, well signed in all a pleasant days trailing thanks to all who helped, gatekeeper, trailers, scouts, a speclal thanks to all the farmers and sponsors and those who attended, first estimate is a profit of £250+ on the day. Bridekirk had come in for some criticism as the chosen venue but six of the seven HTA areas produced a winner, so!!!

First trail of the afternoon, and only 12 HTA seniors plus Two from the BHTA.

Thorn Dancer was the favourite but there was plenty of support for Bracelet and Endure but coming to the bookies rescue was Tommy’s Legacy who ran on strongly from the two challengers, Bracelet and Endure with the other ticketing hounds close up.

The senior maidens and after finishing second last week at the venue and winning on Tuesday the fancied Lady Anne repelled the challenge of Westgate Belle and the fast finishing Sambuca to claim the spoils for the Ulverston area.

The main event of the afternoon , the Dog produce, produced an exiting finish when Eclipse looked all over a winner only to be collared in the final strides by Overwater Roger .’ Roger’ owned by the Irving family of Stockbridge farm nr Overwater , sired by Huntsman’s Hope out of Nellie Kim, and bred by the Irving family and winning for the seventh time this season taking him to joint top of the table ( for half an hour). Telstar was third after running low on the finish and the ‘General’ back in fourth. It was reported that Eclipse might have been a shade unlucky after apparently’ missing’ the last obstacle.

As reported ‘Roger’ was top of the table for a while , that is before his female rival ‘Liz’ took the open puppy trail, winning in fine style from the Dearham kennel mates Silver- Dawn and Dusk.

The restricted trail and the biggest field of the day so Dairy Lightning emulating his mother Dairy Diamond when holding off the persistent challenge of double seeking , Brian Graham’s Bassenthwaite kennel, with Dawn and Santino in third.

Finally the veterans and first year veteran , the Kendal hound Artisan held off Silver Spangle, another first year veteran with Settle based Tiagress finishing a respectable third. for Mick and his ‘Harem’.

A good day was had by all and even the loudspeaker worked!
