Report. A beautiful afternoon in the Vale of Lorton ,nice weather for the spectators but it took its toll on the hounds ,one or two had sore feet.

As they crossed the fell in front of us the consensus of opinion was that it was ‘Arnie’ and a Patterdale hound with a lead but as they dropped down the fell towards the finish Quiet Linnet lost the lead to Celtic Malone who led onto the finish and held off Silver Spangle by three lengths, with ‘Rascal back in third.

The senior maidens and they completed the trail only 22 seconds slower than the seniors and a notable achievement for the Napier kennel when they had five out of the six places and one other was seventh. Yabadabbadoo should have won but ran wide on the finish allowing kennelmate Hallelujah to win by a length and only a length back were the third and fourth.

In the junior trail Huntsman’s kraca did most of the ‘driving’ but ran wide in the penultimate field giving ground away to Silver Charm ,who showed she has a fair finishing speed as she came away from the table leader.

In the puppy maidens , three hounds were in contention on the finish ,and to make it a successful afternoon for the Dearham kennel , Delta Dawn held off the challenge of kennelmate Silver lining with KInniside Joe in third.

The final trail and the Open Restricted, the trail everybody wants to run in but not to win , well, not all! because Emily was quite happy to get ‘Bessie’ over the line in front of a well pleased Steve happy with second placed littman.

Hard Work for the hounds and the Committee and as one  owner remarked ,’My hounds aren’t lame they just have sore feet ‘!
